So all of you have asked quite a few questions and I know that
I have emailed those who asked them but some have asked for all the answers. So below are the questions with the
answers. If you have more please ask.

CLOTHING QUESTIONS

Are we allowed to wear sandals/flip
flops?—Yes you are allowed flip flops but bring walking shoes too because
we will be walking to ministry everyday.

Are we allowed to wear tank tops, with
wide straps, or does there need to be a sleeve?- You are allowed NOT to wear
tank tops. Sorry.

Also, in the
handbook, it said we needed to wear skirts for ministry work, but can we also
wear capris/long shorts for ministry work or only skirts?- You will only
need one skirt. You can wear capris/long
shorts during ministry. And please bring
shorts to wear at training camp it is very warm here in GA and you will be
thankful for them.

HOUSING QUESTIONS

Do you know the conditions of where we
will be staying in the DR, like indoors? Tents? What..? We will be living
in a house/apartment. See the links I
gave you earlier for more info on it.

In exactly what part
of the Dominican
Republic will we be staying? Like what city? I believe its San Juan de la
Maguana. It's in the west.

I remember being told
we are going to be able to do laundry, but do we need to bring detergent/soap
or anything of that sort? Laundry, you will have a laundry machine at the
houses. it is small and really just spins the laundry around, you must fill it
and put soap in. then it has a dry spinner. You hang laundry to dry it. I would say that if you have it and have the
room bring some soap. If not I'm sure we
can get it there.

So, the house at the
ministry base-is that where we are staying? Is there air conditioning there? if
not, is it sufficiently screened? Or do we need to bring mosquito nets?—There
in so air conditioning. You will not
need mosquito nets

How often will we be
able to wash ourselves and how will we do it? Showers? Baths? Secluded ponds? -Bathing,
showers are in the houses. if you do go to the mountains the girls might want
to bring bathing suits because there is a chance you will be bathing in rivers,
the last FYMs have done it. (Dave and Shawn you should bring suits too. You
need them for training camp anyways.)

MINISTRY QUESTIONS
What is our ministry
focus once we're there? (i think we are working with kids b/c of the supplies
and activities we're supposed to bring, but I'm not sure...)- Yeah we will
be working with kids but there are also hospitals, door to door and other
ministry we will be doing.

How old are the
Hosts? Some information about them for the Host gift would be helpful. Gifts,
little cute bracelets, beads, key chains, maybe a hat, something that is uniquely
you. You aren't going to just be handing out gifts so the people that do receive
them will know you.

MONEY QUESTIONS
1).How does the money
currency change once we get to the DR, like how much will souvenir type things
cost?—

I've asked around and
have figured out that 34 pesos equals $1 but i still haven't gotten any answers
about how much things cost, and how far pesos go...like, is a blanket 100
pesos? less more? a coke? I'm just trying to figure out how much spending money
would be appropriate to bring..--What is going to happen is that you will change money in the
capitol at the airport. This is pretty typical. the amount when i left two days
ago was 33 pesos to a dollar. If buying in the capitol, where they tourists
usually buy things, everything is a little more expensive. They can use US
dollars in the capitol. Other than that things are pretty cheap.

PACKING QUESTIONS

What type of bags are
you all bringing? Duffels? Suitcases? Backpacking backpacks? What...? I am
bringing a rolling suitcase and a duffel.
Whatever you have should be good.

Also,
for when we check our suitcase and ministry supply bag, will we need to pay an
extra fee for checking two bags? You
will have to check with the airline on this one. If you are charged and have enough in your
account you can get reimbursed for it.
Just make sure you turn in the receipt and the form. If you have more questions on this please
ask.

Do we need to fit our sleeping bag into our suitcase? Yes you do.

MISC. QUESTIONS
My parents are
wondering if they will be able to contact me while I'm there and also how to
access the blogs, what should i tell them?- Well you will be able to email
and call them I do believe I don't know exactly how often. As
far as accessing the blog just give them the blog URL of your team blog.
That is where you will be blogging. If they on the left click the little
all blogs next to your name it will bring up all the blogs that you have
written and posted.

It says we need and alarm clock, Can I
use my cell phone as one, or are we to totally not to bring them?-Cell phones
are not allowed.

Are there outlets in the DR to plug
things into?- I am still working on getting this info but when I do I will
comment below with the info.
